I’m running for re-election in Massachusetts this November, and we’re building the biggest grassroots campaign our state has ever seen. But this fight was never just about me. This is our moment in history — and how it unfolds will be determined just as much by you and others in your state.
We saw what’s possible this week, when grassroots organizing swung a Republican Congressional district in Pennsylvania by 20 points. And we saw it in December, when Alabama elected a Democrat to the United States Senate.
And here’s what really makes me hopeful: There is an unprecedented surge in first-time candidates — many of them women, people of color, and young people — running for every level of office up and down the ballot in every single state.
They need our help no matter where they’re running. Democrats have to fight everywhere. That’s why I made a donation to help with grassroots organizing in every single one of the Democratic state parties last week.
If we’re going to stop Donald Trump and the Republicans from rigging the system for the big banks and billionaires, we need to win elections everywhere — starting with taking back the House and Senate. And if we’re going to make government work for working people again, we also need to elect Democratic governors, mayors, state legislators and city counselors. This isn’t someone else’s job — this is our job.
I’d love to hear from you about which candidates excite you most in your state this year, and what you’re doing to make a difference. As we get closer to the election, we’re going to keep doing everything we can to help.
