After President Donald Trump said he has the power to pardon himself, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, responded that no one is above the law.
“President Trump seems to believe that he gets to make up all the rules,” Warren told reporters in Boston. “He’s wrong. No one is above the law, and that includes the president of the United States.”
As special counsel Robert Mueller continues his probe into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential elections, he is said to be considering subpoenaing the president. In a memo by Trump’s attorneys, reported by the New York Times, Trump argues that the president cannot legally obstruct justice because he has final authority over any investigation.
