U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren urged Springfield-area constituents Friday to remain politically engaged and continue pressing lawmakers on issues, stressing that the last year has demonstrated how such activism can influence decisions in Washington.

Warren, during an “Open House” event at Springfield Technical Community College’s Scibelli Hall, lauded constituents who have marched for certain causes, called their legislators or otherwise made their voices heard on an array of issues.

She encouraged the more than 300 attendees who crowded the STCC auditorium to continue holding politicians accountable and not get discouraged by what she cast as Republican-led efforts to chip away at core democratic issues.
